Electronic appliances components surround us and we use them on a daily basis, but when they break it can be hard to dispose of them correctly. Often these components contain metals or gases that can be hazardous to the environment.
We held an e-waste collection drive in October 2018, where parents, teachers and students donated broken appliances, old computers, screens, cables, hard drives, and laptops among other things. Once we had collected a literal pile of these components, an e-waste management company removed the material for safe recycling and disposal.
With the proceeds of the e-waste, we were able to purchase a new PC for our computer lab. Thank you to all who contributed to this project! We will hold another e-waste collection drive in 2019, so please bring us any unused, broken or unwanted electrical components like cables, screens, PCs, or appliances, and we’ll dispose of them safely!
